One of the best products I have bought this year well worth the price I paid.

Great value for the money
I am extremely pleased. Very easy to install and even easier to adjust. It's smooth and quiet. May have to buy another one to replace the old one on the other door.

Exceeded my expectations
I got this on sale, 25% off regular, and having had chain drive openers in the past, I was pleasantly surprised to find how quiet this opener is - I can barely hear it when it's operating, the garage door itself lifting in its tracks makes more noise.
I've installed two openers in the past, and found this one as easy as any other to install, instructions are clear, the packaging well laid out, this one took me about 4 hours as I had to manufacture a brace for my hollow/aluminum garage door.
Only minor complaint is, while this unit does have a light that comes on automatically when the door is opening, it does not have a light switch button that enables the light to operated independently - unlike other openers I've owned in the past - I didnt realize this when I bought it, and it would be nice to have, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

mine was a waist of money
it installed quickly and easily.. I purchased this to replace the chain drive unit that I had for 20 years as a treat... but the unit will not work other than from the buttons on the console unit.. it all says ready to work but nothing.. I contacted Genie and they never returned my call.. I brought the unit into work and had the electronics dept give it a once over and the control board is at fault.. they said it was very poorly soldiered and did what he could, he gave it back to me and simply told me to get something better. you get what you pay for.. I guess it was worth a try...

Super Quiet
I debated long and hard before buying this garage door opener because some of the reviews were not very positive. I was leaning towards the Sears model as I have had several in the past and never any issues with them. However, this Genie was unsale for almost a $100 less than the Sears model so decided to give iit a try. Instalation was similar to all other garage door openers but i was very impressed with the packing. Each step of the install had parts in seperate bags and even the boxes had labels on the inside lid to help finding the correct pieces. Once Installed I could not believe how quiet the opener is especially given this is a chain drive. I also have two chamberlian chain drives and in my last place had a Sears Belt Drive. This Genie is much quiter than the Sears Belt drive in fact the motor that moves my eletrice seats back and forth in the car makes more noise. When in the car I have to look back to ensure the door is opening because I cannot hear the Opener. The only complaint I have about this unit is the short range of the car remote. With my Chamberlian openers I can open the doors from 10 house down the street but with the Genie I have to be at the end of my driveway. Overall and excellent unit that I would recommend, you will not find a quieter unit for anywhere near the regular price of this unit let alone the sale price. BTW - the actual unit has two lights (front and back) unlike the picture which only shows one.

nice product
I am very satisfied with my new GENIE door opener. I installed it in a couple of hours. It worked first time and with minor adjustments to the stoping points I was done. I was amazed at how quite it is and I am sort of disappointed because it is so quite that I can not hear it from my living room, because I sometimes leave it open, so I try to close it from in the house but I can not hear if it is closing or not. I would of liked it more if it came with a keychain remote not 2 in car remotes because only one car can be in the garage.

works excellent
I bought this garage door opener about two months ago when it was on sale for $159 (included two remotes and the outside key pad) great price. i thought it was just going to be okay because of the price and compared to the one I bought at my old house which cost me $350. I was very surprised it works excellent. Very easy to instal and to program . This unit is very quiet for it being a chain drive. My last house I bought a belt drive because I wanted it to be as quiet as possible and I think this unit makes less sound then the belt drive. Very impressed with everything.

Quiet, great value
I just installed this on the weekend. It is amazing how quiet it is... I'm surprised people don't make mention of that in their reviews.
One thing that I found a bit of an annoyance though is it doesn't include the angle iron / bracket for mounting the motor. I guess they assume you already have that or your garage is unfinished. My garage was finished, so I had to run out and by that part. It only costs about $5-10, so you would think they would just include it in the box. Oh well.
Other than that, this unit is fantastic. I highly recommend one... hard to beat the price and quality for what you pay.

no power
just installed a brand new chain drive genie and it can barely open a standard non insulated light weight 7' x 8' door that I can easily open with one hand . Is this normal ???
