Fantastic tool
Don't let its little size fool you. This little splitting axe is incredible. It will split smaller size logs no problem. I use it mainly on already split wood to split it further get to the size I want.
It works well right down to splitting to kindling size pieces.
Grab this axe when it's on sale, and it's a fantastic deal! I love it - a wonderful tool.

Perfection !
This Fiskars X11 ( 17 inch ) Hatchet is simply the best hatchet you will ever own. I previously owned a " Granfors Carpenter Hatchet " that was hand forged in "Sweden" and costing close to $200. The X11 is by far a better hatchet than the "Granfors" brand.
The head weight on this hatchet is 1.85 lbs and the total weight is 2.43 lbs. This excellent weight will split or chop almost anything you desire.
Like all Fiskars axes, the X11 comes super sharp with a real neat and new plastic blade cover. The composite handle is just the right length, and is shaped perfectly for balance.
If you want to sharpen this hatchet and any other axe to a razor edge, then simply buy a " Lansky " Puck Axe sharpening stone.
It's about the size of a hockey puck and is circular, and has a medium grit on one side and a course on the other. This safe and super simple to use circular puck will sharpen any " already " pre sharpened axe like a razor blade in just 15 minutes. It sells for $10. on eBay or Amazon.com.
For a visual review on the Fiskars X11 Hatchet or X27 Splitting Axe or the Lansky Sharpening Stone just go to "You Tube" and see for yourself.
I hope my review helps in your decision to purchase this quality hatchet. Want the best 36 inch Splitting axe on this planet. See the Fiskars X27 @ your local Canadian Tire Store.

" Fiskars just keep em coming !! "
I bought this axe last fall and split wood all winter for my wood stove. This axe is so light you may forget that it is not a toy. This thing is as sharp as a razor and the quality of the metal used for the head is clearly top grade. There is very little vibration from the handle for being so light. Not sure when I will have to sharpen it as it is still like a razor for this season.
WARNING....Keep this puppy in it's case and hang it up out of reach of children. You might even consider a locked cabnet.

great axe now how do i keep it pretty
i love this axe its super sharp and when i say sharp i mean "thats gonna need stitchs sharp". its lightweight strong and keeps its edge the only problem i have with this axe is the handle comes up over the blade and the plastic can start looking pretty chewed up after a few split logs but other then that its well worth the money dont buy a cheap one and be mad the whole trip buy this axe and spend your time worrying about what you left on at home and not about chopping.

A Great Camp Axe for Canoeing or Kayaking
Fiskars make great axes, and this one is perfect for taking along in a canoe or stowing in a kayak. They have a great feel and heft and look good. If you camp, you should have a Fiskar's axe.
