fast!! Like a chainsaw without a motor or chain...
Hi, first off, this is not a chopping/splitting axe, as some people have used this for. This is a cutting/brush axe. I have both the est wing and this one. Owned them both for more than 15yrs now. I keep one with me in the quad, and the other in my pickup. It is the next best thing to a chainsaw if you have a tree in the road or otherwise in your way....it swings very fast due to it's design and make very deep chips. The shape of the blade lets you go deep into you cut without having to make the opening very wide. I have used this on trees more than 14" diameter.
I normally sharpen them and buff them, then spray on clear lacquer to keep them new looking yearly. I would love for a stainless version to hit the market. The est wing does have a nicer feel, and balance in your had, then this thicker handled version, but very much worth the purchase.

Beats out Estwing
I had originally purchased the Estwing version of this axe. One week of normal use in Algonquin Park and the Estwing axe was useless. Couldn't stand up to the white pine found there. This Mastercraft axe is thicker, heavier, and all around a much better axe than the Estwing version. Get this axe instead. You save some money, and enjoy a lifetime warranty.

estwing is better
This axe is a close knock off of the Estwing axe - do not confuse the two - this axe is cheap - durable but not in the same league as the real Estwing - Canadian tire sells both - spend the extra money and get the real deal

Awesome!!!
This has been my camping axe for over 10 years. Its quality is not met by other brands. It's lightweight, all metal, and very easy to use. The days of me replacing axe handles are gone. It's fairly rust resistant too. A light oiling every now and then is all it takes. The sheath can even hook onto your belt. Estwing makes some of the best hammers on the market, and this axe is right up there in terms of quality.

Stays Sharp
Great axe! Used to split over 2 hundred rounds and still haven't had to sharpen it yet. Has not rusted when left in the elements. Good solid grip and no vibrations.

TREES BEWARE-#1AXE
I GOT THIS FOR A FRIEND TO USE AT MY PLACE FOR REMOVING SOME TREES AND A DEAD STUMP.AT FIRST I FELT IT WOULD BE TOO BULKY/HEAVY FOR ME TO USE-BUT WHEN IT IS SHARP-YOU DONT NEED ALOT OF FORCE TO CUT FIREWOOD UP NICELY.IT WORKED GREAT ON THOSE PESKY BRANCHES AND WE HAD NAKED TREEES IN NO TIME.HE GETS ONE FOR HIS BIRTHDAY THIS YEAR-ITS MY GIFT TO HIM.

Good Buy
Cheap, and very reliable. I use it Ice fishing all the time and it doesn't get soggy/slippery like a wooden handle would.

LOVE my axe
I've owned this model axe for 2 years now. It's my camping axe and it's perfect for firewood. The grip is comfortable, easy to use and the weight is distributed properly. A joy to use.

Just me and my axe
I got this from my brother when he had to leave the country for a job.
He couldn't take it.
Lucky me. It's a good axe!
I take it camping and it does the job splitting up wood for kindling.
I used it to cut out a cedar stump with no problem.
