Read the July 30, 2012 review, I should have.
These drill bits have been downgraded in quality. The grooves ground in the sides of the bits were ground too deep and every bit was cracked at the bottom of the groove. The edges were also chipped and dented when brand new, never used. I was so disappointed that I returned them the next day.

specification has changed without notice! dont buy
These have now changed to uncoated bits! just plain old steel, and not well made at that, no longer worth it, even at the sale price of 38 bucks, a waste of money 30th July 2012

Excellent when on sale
Dunno if I would be so enthusiastic at the full price, but I got these for $50 and at that price point it's a good deal.
Can't really comment on longevity, but out of the box they cut nice clean holes - just be sure to use slowest speeds for the larger diameters. On my drill press, the larger sizes need the slowest setting - around 500 rpm.
Slower than a holesaw, but the edges are super clean and crisp, and these puppies do so much more than you can do with a holesaw.
So far I've only used them in softwoods, I'll update this once I've drilled out some maple if there are any nasty surprises.

Great!!
Great set. I have an older model case (doesn't have the windows). These have been with me through many a renovation for over 5 years and they're a must have everywhere around the house. You do need a good drill with lots of torque and a full charge for some applications, especially with the larger sizes. Don't hesitate if you see them on sale!

Excellent
I've had my bit set for a few years and cannot be happier. The case is phenomenal. Few tools come with cases that are protective, solid and look good. The bits themselves function very well and do exactly what they are supposed to do. The cuts are clean with minimal splintering. On sale this is a buy that is very difficult to beat.

Good deal when on sale
As other people have mentioned, the case leaves something to be desired -- it's also weirdly laid out and can be confusing working out which size of bit is which.
However, the bits themselves work very nicely, they're solid, they cut nice smooth holes, and when on sale it's a _great_ deal.

Case Issues
The bits are fine, however don't tip the case sideways or bump it around too much or you'll be sorting your bits out of a pile once again. Maybe someday they'll figure out how to hold them in place... But the bits themselves do work well.

Great Set
I have had these for several years now and they are great. They cut very smooth, flat bottom holes. The smaller sizes don't clear the chips well, but that's a small issue. Catch them on sale if you can.
